Claptons
Cradle

With From the Cradle (1994), Eric Clapton stripped away the stadium rock sound and returned to his blues roots, paying tribute to the legends who shaped his playing. These three songs highlight his deep understanding of blues phrasing, tone, and emotion. His 1995 concert in Munich, Germany remains one of my all time best experiences.

  1. “Reconsider Baby” – Slow Blues & Soulful Expression. A low-and-slow blues ballad, teaching vocal-like phrasing, smooth bends... a sort of Lowell Fulson meets Jimmy Vaughan.
  2. “Sinner’s Prayer” – Gospel-Influenced Blues. A spacious soulful blues piece blending gospel-style chord voicings, dynamic strumming, and melodic lead playing.
  3. “Someday After a While” – Texas Blues & Freddie King Influence. Sharp attack, aggressive picking, and wide bends, paying homage to Freddie King’s blues style.
